Function

Refresh Data. Clicking this button initiates a Data Retrieval request. A The process initiated by a Data Retrieval request depends on the data feed providing data. If your data feed is S&P Comstock or DTN, a refresh requests initiates contact with an Aspen Server located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. If your data feed is Reuters or Reuters/MoneyLine, a refresh request initiates contact with a Reuters or MoneyLine central database, respectively.

A workstation sends a refresh request to the Aspen server, and the server fulfills the request according to the feed behavior described above.

Personal Edition software works only with S&P Comstock and DTN.

Add Symbol to Chart. Selecting this button opens an entry box in the upper left corner of the active chart window. Symbol addition is truly additive. It means, "leave any existing symbol(s) in the chart window, and add the one I type."

Using this function creates a multiple instrument chart.

Expand Price Scale. Expands the price scale in the active chart window.

Compress Price Scale. Compresses the price scale in the active chart window.

Move Chart Up. Moves the chart up (decreases the price scale).

Move Chart Down. Moves the chart down (increases the price scale).

Auto Scale Price. Re-scales the price scale to default settings.

Compress Time Scale. Compresses the time scale.

Expand Time Scale. Expands the time scale.

Shift Chart Left. Shifts the chart left (into the past).

Shift Chart Right. Shifts the chart right (into the future).

Auto Scale Time. Re-scales the time scale to default settings.

Linear Chart Scale. Applies Linear scaling.

Logarithmic Chart Scale. Applies Logarithmic scaling.

Percent Change Chart Scale. Applies Percent Change scaling.

Add overlay. Clicking this icon displays overlays you can add.

Add study. Clicking this icon displays a drop down menu containing the studies you can add.

Replace study. Clicking this icon displays a menu of studies (see, above). Clicking a study in the menu replaces the study in the chart or split window with the study you select.

Add split. Clicking this icon displays a menu of studies (see, above). Clicking a study in the menu splits the chart window and displays the selected study in the resulting split window.

Study parameters. Clicking this icon displays a list of studies or overlays in the active chart window. Selecting a study from the menu displays the parameters dialog for that study.

Remove study. Clicking this icon displays a menu listing the studies / overlays in the active chart window. Selecting a study from the menu removes the study from the active chart window.

Remove all studies. Clicking this icon removes all studies in the active chart window.

Remove split. Clicking this icon removes a split from the chart window.

Split Chart. Splits the active chart window.

Table. Clicking this icon displays a window containing a table of the data in the active chart window.

Properties. Clicking this icon displays the chart properties dialog.

Toggles trend line mode. Clicking this icon places the chart in trend line drawing mode.

Add Layer.

Remove Layer.

Rotate Layers.

Make Layer Transparent.

Synchronize Layers. Clicking this icon displays a list of locks that can be placed on a seasonal chart.
