Symbol Entry
A distinctive characteristic of Bloomberg is its symbols. Ordinarily, symbols are what the exchange says they are. To display a quote on IBM, you enter IBM. Bloomberg symbols consist of the following:
<symbol>'<country>'<type>
or,
IBM'US'Equity
The Bloomberg keyboard maps instrument types to function keys F2 through F12. This enables a user to type a symbol, press a function key, and get the completed syntax. Aspen Graphics duplicates this function key mapping:
