User-defined formulas are studies, routines, and utilities written in Aspen Formula Language and distributed with the Aspen Graphics workstation and Personal Edition.
The categories you see in the drop down at left pertain to the tabs in the Formula Manager.
Keep in mind that if you have upgraded your Aspen Graphics software recently, changes may have occurred. Updated formulas are available on the Aspen Graphics workstation in the Apex\User\Formulas directory.
