All quote codes have a default field width, typically 8 characters or numerals. Quote codes the represent descriptions have a width of 32 characters.
In some cases, the default field width is not large enough to accommodate information. For example, some option and foreign exchange currency symbols exceed 8 characters, so the symb quote code truncates the symbol. You can expand or shorten any quote code by appending a comma and a positive integer to the quote code, i.e.,
<code>,<integer>
You set the length of a field when you enter the code in the "Cell =" box.
For example, if you want to set a symbol field to 15 characters, you would enter the following code in the "Cell =" box.
symb,15
