All quote codes have a default field width, typically 8 characters or numerals. Quote codes the represent descriptions have a width of 32 characters.

In some cases, the default field width is not large enough to accommodate information.  For example, some option and foreign exchange currency symbols exceed 8 characters, so the symb quote code truncates the symbol.  You can expand or shorten any quote code by appending a comma and a positive integer to the quote code, i.e.,

<code>,<integer>

You set the length of a field when you enter the code in the "Cell =" box.

For example, if you want to set a symbol field to 15 characters, you would enter the following code in the "Cell =" box.

symb,15
