The normal day has a wide initial balance that equals approximately eighty percent of the day's range. It usually occurs in a quiet market environment, such as a sideways market, or when the market is forming a long-term top or bottom. A range extension lacks follow-through and is not very robust. This type of day structure is one of the most common patterns and occurs approximately forty percent of the time.
