The non-trend day has a small initial balance that contains the entire day's range.  This type of day is the result of very little outside paper flowing into the pit.  A non-trend day can occur when the market is resting after a strong move, or is stagnating at a price level, suggesting that a major move is immanent.  This day structure occurs approximately five percent of the time.
